Who is Glamping Essentials?
Me! My name is Anja, and as a nurse, wife, and mother during the pandemic, I embraced time in the outdoors and, in particular, camping, to help cope with the stress of working in health care while having three kids learning from home. I have been a life-long camper, and while preparing for another season of trailer camping, I decided I wanted to subscribe to a box of fancy camping ("glamping") goodies as a treat to myself (#selfcare).
Unfortunately, there were no glamping boxes being curated from Canadian suppliers, so I took it upon myself to start a subscription box that supported small and independent Canadian businesses in hopes of bringing a smile to other Canadian Glampers across the country.
What is Glamping Essentials all about?
The mission of Glamping Essentials is to support Canadian outdoor adventurers' health & wellness through connecting with friends, enjoying nature, and finding balance. I created a product to support this purpose: a seasonal subscription box filled with items curated from small Canadian businesses. Subscription boxes include outdoor themed items such as fun campy drinkware, eco-friendly handmade soaps, soy and pine fire starters, natural insect repellents and your favourite outdoor snacks. Boxes aim for the perfect mix of items to use and items to treasure for many camping & cottage seasons to come.
2022 was the pilot year, and I supported 11 Canadian small businesses and one Canadian charity by having their products included in the boxes.
In 2023 I featured 16 Canadian small businesses through our Glamping Box Series and showcased an additional two Canadian small business through our gift boxes. I also highlighted Canada’s beauty through the inclusion of Parks Canada merchandise.
In 2024 I featured 20 additional Canadian small business, expanded the line-up of custom clothing, re-launched the "Thoughts from a Canadian Glamper" blog, added campsite reviews and completed re-did the website.
The fun will continue in 2025 while I strive to be environmentally friendly, including products that are durable and fun for wherever your adventures take you!
